National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination or NCHMCT JEE (also known as NCHM JEE) is a national-level hotel management entrance exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) to offer admission to aspirants in hospitality and hotel administration programmes.




National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (Society) was set up in the year 1982 by Government of India as an autonomous body for coordinated growth and development of hospitality management education in the country.

Initially, the Council was set up in the name of National Board of Studies in Food Management, Catering & Nutrition under the administrative control of Ministry of Agriculture (Dept. of Food) and subsequently it was transferred to Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India in the year 1984 with renaming as National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology.  The office of the Council is situated at A-34, Sector-62, Noida (U.P.) in its own building whereas registered office is at Pusa, New Delhi.

The Council regulates academics in the field of Hospitality Education & training that is imparted at the 21 Central Govt. sponsored Institutes of Hotel Management, 25 State Govt. sponsored IHMs offering Degree level/Diploma/Craft Certificate level programs, 1 PSU owned Institute, 25 private Institutes and 14 Food Craft Institutes that function in different parts of the country.

Through the Council, these institutes offer 11 different professional programs leading to award of Certificate, Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, and master’s degree. (The last two programs are in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)).


NCHMCT JEE Eligibility Criteria


  • Qualifying Exam


A pass in 10+2 system of Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects. Candidate must have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination.

Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in NCHMCT JEE on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission.


  • Age Limit


For candidates from General and OBC categories, upper age limit is 25 years as on the date of admission. In the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, upper age limit is 28 years as on the date of admission. Upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates shall be reckoned as per the category he/she belongs to i.e. General/EWS/SC/ST/OBC. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/Pre-University Certificate shall be the authentic proof that will be accepted.


  • Physical Fitness


All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate of carrying out practical claims as required in course at the time of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format.
